What to Expect

Ready for your visit to the dentist? Whether it's your first time visiting a new dentist, or you just haven't been in a while, here's what you can expect from your first dentist appointment.

Unless you have had a recent dental appointment within the last 12 months, your first dental appointment will include new X-rays. Bitewing X-rays and PA'S are taken and used to detect tooth decay (cavities), gum disease, bone loss, and infection. For your protection, you'll be fitted with a lead or lead-free apron to reduce radiation exposure. If you have not had x-rays within the last 24 months, our office will require you to have an FMX, which is a full set of x-rays of all of your teeth. Our office is required to have patients do check up x-rays once a year and a full set of x-rays every 5 years.

If this is your first dental appointment within the last 12 months, or you are seeing a new dentist, your visit will involve a comprehensive dental exam, dental probing, TMJ evaluation, as well as an Oral Cancer screening. During the exam, your dentist will inspect your teeth and mouth for any potential problems, including signs of tooth decay, gingivitis, and periodontal disease (commonly known as gum disease). He will also talk with you about any problems you've been experiencing, such as toothaches, sensitivity, or cosmetic concerns. Following the dental exam, your dentist will put together an individual treatment plan designed to improve your oral health which also includes which type of cleaning appointment he recommends for your next office visit.

Following your appointment, you'll meet with our Office Manager regarding payment and scheduling of your regular cleaning appointments, and any necessary procedures outlined in your personalized treatment plan. Currently, our office accepts all major credit cards, cash, and care credit as forms of payment.
